What is Color Converter?
A color converter translates one color notation into all the others: HEX for CSS and design tokens, RGB for screens and image editors, HSL for humans adjusting lightness and saturation. You paste or pick one value and every equivalent updates together.
HEX and RGB describe the same sRGB color space with different syntax, while HSL re-expresses the same color as hue, saturation and lightness — which is why designers reach for HSL when building consistent shades. The converter does the math instantly and shows a live swatch so you can confirm the color before copying.
How to use it
- 1Enter a color in any supported format, such as #2f66ff or rgb(47, 102, 255).
- 2Use the color picker for visual selection if you do not know the code.
- 3Read the equivalent values in HEX, RGB and HSL.
- 4Copy the format your stylesheet or design tool expects.
Common use cases
- Matching a brand HEX code to the rgba() syntax CSS needs for transparency.
- Deriving lighter and darker shades of a primary color by adjusting HSL lightness.
- Converting colors from design files into code-ready values.
Frequently asked questions
▸Why do RGB and HEX look identical?
They are two syntaxes for the same sRGB triplet: #2f66ff is exactly rgb(47, 102, 255). Converters exist because different tools prefer different spellings.
▸Does it support transparency?
Use 8-digit HEX or rgba() input for alpha values; the preview reflects the transparency over a checkered background.
