What is Temperature Converter?
Temperature scales differ in both their zero point and their step size: 0 °C is water's freezing point, 32 °F is the same temperature, and Kelvin shifts the zero to absolute zero with the same step size as Celsius. Mixing them up is a classic cooking, science-class and hardware-monitoring mistake.
This converter treats all scales symmetrically: type a value into any field and the others update live. Below the fields, reference markers (water freezes, body temperature, water boils, oven ranges) give you an intuition anchor instead of just a number.
How to use it
- 1Type a temperature into any scale's field.
- 2All other scales update instantly.
- 3Use the reference strip to sanity-check the result against known points.
Common use cases
- Following an American recipe that lists oven temperatures in °F.
- Reading server or GPU temperatures reported in Celsius for a US spec.
- Science homework converting experimental Kelvin readings to Celsius.
Frequently asked questions
▸What is the quick mental formula for °C → °F?
Double the Celsius and add 30 — good within a few degrees around room temperature. The exact formula is (°C × 9/5) + 32; use the tool when precision matters.
▸When do I need Kelvin?
Kelvin is required wherever temperature enters physics formulas (gas laws, thermodynamics) because 0 K is absolute zero. Never say 'degrees Kelvin' — it is kelvin, K.
