What is Image Resizer?

An image resizer changes an image's pixel dimensions while keeping the subject looking right. You can target an exact width and height, scale by a percentage, or fit within a maximum size while preserving the aspect ratio so nothing stretches.

Resizing happens with your browser's canvas engine on your own device: photos of people, screenshots and documents are never uploaded. The tool also lets you choose the output format and quality, which makes it a practical first step before uploading images to a CMS that enforces size limits.

How to use it

  1. 1Drag an image onto the page or pick a file.
  2. 2Enter target dimensions, or pick a percentage scale, or set only one side to keep the ratio.
  3. 3Choose the output format — keep the original, or export as JPEG/PNG/WebP.
  4. 4Download the resized image.

Common use cases

  • Shrinking camera photos from 4000px to 1200px for a website or blog post.
  • Producing exact-size app icons and avatar crops from one source image.
  • Batch-preparing product images to a marketplace's required dimensions.

Frequently asked questions

▸Will resizing reduce image quality?

Downscaling usually looks clean; upscaling beyond the original size adds softness because missing pixels must be invented. For quality-critical work, resize down, not up.

▸What format should I choose for the web?

WebP or JPEG for photos (much smaller files), PNG when you need transparency or sharp text-like edges.
