What is Coin Flip?
A coin flip tool replaces the physical coin for any binary decision: heads or tails, go or no-go, who goes first. The randomness comes from your browser's crypto API, so each flip is independent and unbiased — no worn-edge physics, no catch-flip technique.
A running history with streak statistics turns it into a small lesson in probability: seeing five heads in a row happen naturally is the best cure for the gambler's fallacy. Use it for sports, classrooms, board games or settling 'you choose' standoffs.
How to use it
- 1Click the coin (or press Space) to flip.
- 2Read the result and the updated history strip.
- 3Watch the streak counter for consecutive runs.
- 4Reset the history when starting a new decision round.
Common use cases
- Deciding who serves first in a match without a physical coin.
- Classroom demonstrations of randomness and streaks.
- Breaking decision deadlocks fairly and instantly.
Frequently asked questions
▸Is it really 50/50?
Yes — the underlying RNG is uniform and independent per flip. Over many flips the counts converge to about even, with streaks of 5-6 appearing more often than intuition expects.
▸Can I flip for three or more options?
For more than two options use the random picker instead — a coin only encodes two outcomes, and chained flips are not uniform.
