What is ASCII Art Generator?
An ASCII art generator redraws your text as large multi-line letterforms built from characters — the classic banner style seen in terminal tools, README files and code comments. Each font is a fixed-width glyph set, so alignment survives any monospace context.
Because the output is plain text it survives everywhere HTML does not: console logs, commit messages, IRC, terminal MOTDs. The tool renders live in your browser using bundled fonts and lets you pick the style that fits the width you have.
How to use it
- 1Type the text you want as a banner (short words work best).
- 2Pick a font style from the dropdown and watch the preview.
- 3Copy the multi-line output in monospace.
- 4Paste it into your README, comment block or terminal message.
Common use cases
- Adding a recognizable banner to a CLI tool's help output.
- Marking section headers in README files so they stand out in plain diffs.
- Signing scripts and config files with a memorable header.
Frequently asked questions
▸Why does my banner look misaligned?
The font must be monospace. Any proportional font collapses the columns — paste into a code block or terminal and it will line up.
▸Can I use non-English letters?
Most bundled fonts cover A-Z, 0-9 and common punctuation; accented and CJK glyphs fall back to missing blocks, so stick to supported characters.
